Write for us
We welcome considered pitches about the design of objects, graphics, interfaces, materials and spaces. A strong contribution helps a general reader see a familiar choice more clearly, using precise examples and an independent point of view rather than specialist language for its own sake.
What makes a good pitch
Tell us the subject, the question the piece will answer and why it is worth attention. Include the main examples you plan to use, the form you have in mind and any sources or images the idea depends on. Pitches should have a clear focus, a fresh angle and room to explain trade-offs rather than declare a single design universally best.
The work we can consider
We are interested in accessible explanations, comparisons, histories, close readings and essays grounded in observable design choices. Please distinguish your own interpretation from factual claims, and disclose any relevant professional or commercial connection. We do not accept material that disguises promotion as independent editorial work.
How to send a proposal
Send your proposal through the Contact page and select the editorial reason for writing. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; please include enough detail for us to understand the idea without attaching a full draft unless requested.
Good design rewards a second look
We look past first impressions to the choices that make an object, page or place legible and useful. Design is not only how something appears; it is also how it meets a person.
